The Iowa Cubs could get an up-close look at American League All-Star Josh Hamilton on Wednesday.
Hamilton, a Texas Rangers outfielder, will begin a rehab assignment Monday with double-A Frisco, then will be examined Tuesday. If all goes well, he will join triple-A Oklahoma City for its series in Des Moines.
Hamilton has been on the disabled list since June 1 following surgery to repair a partially torn abdominal muscle. He hit .304 with 32 home runs in 2008.

Hamilton was third in All-Star voting among AL outfielders in the most recent balloting update.
In his first All-Star appearance last year, Hamilton hit a record 28 homers in the first round of the Home Run Derby, including 13 in a row.
Hamilton, a former No. 1 draft pick, missed several seasons due to drug and alcohol addictions before resurrecting his career.
