BETTENDORF, Iowa -- For the first time in NFL history Iowa bars are smokefree.
It's opening Sunday in the NFL and at Sports Fans Pizza in Bettendorf, football enthusiasts are living out a dream with 52 HD TV's to choose from, but there's one thing noticably different, no ash trays on the tables.
"So far decent crowd better than average of what we were expecting opening day of NFL" said Mulvania.
Manager Scott Mulvania says despite 69 days of smokefree air, sports fans continues to see more patrons.
"We come every Sunday during football season to watch dolphins and nascar" said Patty Shay of Rock Island.
In fact it's the first time in Brett Favre's 254 games started that smoker's have had to step outside to light up.
"I don't know what the score is if I'm outside" said Patty Shay.
"Opening season this is where were going to be, but frustrated that have to miss part of game to go outside and smoke" said Carol Johnson.
However, smokers say food friends and atmosphere is enough to keep them coming back, ready for some football.
"This is our Sunday we give up boating for the NFL" said Johnson.
