FIU's T.Y. Hilton is contained by Iowa

Special to the Miami Herald

Last week, T.Y. Hilton scored his first collegiate touchdown on a punt return. This week, he had another milestone that won't be remembered as fondly -- his first tackle. Iowa's A.J. Edds intercepted a pass in the first quarter, and after a 38-yard return, Hilton dragged Edds down from behind. Hilton had 7 yards on two punt returns. He added two catches for 39 yards and one rush for 3 yards. His 21-yard reception in the second quarter was FIU's longest play of the young season.

LINE MOVEMENT

Shuffling continued along the offensive line. Devon Dickerson was listed as a starter right at tackle but did not play. Joe Alajajian moved into that position from right guard. Michael Kuffermann moved up from the second unit to replace Alajajian. Guard Mario Caraballo missed his second consecutive game.

NICE EFFORTS

Marquis Rolle had four catches -- more than he had previously in his career. Rolle, a sophomore from Orlando, had two catches in 2007 and one last week against Kansas. Brad Serini's rushing day was brief but unforgettable. The 300-pound offensive lineman got the ball after quarterback Wayne Younger fumbled. Sernini, a sophomore, gained 3 yards before he fumbled. Iowa recovered the loose ball on what was FIU's final offensive play. By rule, Younger was given the carry, meaning Sernini finished the day with 3 yards on no attempts. His career rushing average is the highest in school history: infinity.

BIG CROWD

The sellout crowd of 70,585 was the third-largest crowd ever to watch FIU play. The biggest was last season at Penn State (107,678), followed by Alabama in 2006 (90,138).--
