Iowa Scene: Iowa beats No. 1 North Carolina in field hockey

FIELD HOCKEY: Iowa beat No. 1 North Carolina 3-2 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Caitlin McCurdy scored twice for No. 5 Iowa. Katie Naughton also scored for the Hawkeyes.

"Today we put two halves together," Iowa coach Tracey Griesbaum said.

SOCCER: Luke Gorczyca and Thomas Ostrander scored as Drake won the championship of the Drake Classic with a 2-0 victory past SIU-Edwardsville.

- Elise Reid scored in the Iowa State women's 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh at the Illini Challenge Cup.

- The Iowa women lost to South Dakota State 2-1 in Iowa City. Keli McLaughlin scored the Hawkeyes' goal.

FOOTBALL: Drake coach Chris Creighton will speak at the Drake Quarterback Club on Wednesday at Christopher's Restaurant in Beaverdale.

Activities start at 11:30 a.m.
